Lead Server
Job Summary:
The Lead Server is responsible for overseeing the restaurant operations, ensuring a high standard of guest experience, and managing both front-of-house and basic kitchen operations. This role combines hands-on service, light food preparation, guest interaction, and supervisory duties. The position requires strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Set up, restock, and maintain cleanliness of the breakfast area.
- Serve breakfast and beverages to guests, ensuring friendly and professional service.
- Prepare simple food items and beverages.
- Handle transactions using the POS system.
- Supervise and support waitstaff and kitchen assistants during restaurant hours.
- Manage guest reservations and oversee the flow of service.
- Address guest requests and resolve complaints diplomatically.
- Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Follow all alcohol service procedures
- Assist with training and supervising front-of-house staff.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Coordinate with kitchen and event staff for special functions or banquets.
- Perform inventory checks and ensure sufficient supplies for service.
- Sanitize all cleaning tools and maintain equipment at the end of each shift.
- Assist other departments as needed to ensure optimal guest service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong supervisory skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow recipes and culinary procedures.
- Familiarity with food handling, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Proficiency with POS and scheduling systems.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work long hours, irregular shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous Food and Beverage service experience preferred
- Experience in guest-facing roles and basic food preparation.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand for prolonged periods
- Able to climb stairs
- Able to walk kitchen and service public areas
- Able to twist, bend, reach and pull
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds
